Rose Bud Tea

Call me frilly if you will but I am completely unashamed of my slavish devotion to anything rose flavoured, if you follow me on Twitter you may already have clocked me evangelising over black teas blended with rose, you might even have been the recipient of some 'tea mail' (you know who you are!). I have a thing about sharing the joy! Rose bud tea is an altogether different experience from teas infused with the flavour of rose, to begin with it is caffeine free and very delicate but more than that it is an experience for most of the senses really; light floral aroma, beautiful to look at in a glass teapot and such a unique taste. I'm always amazed by how much flavour the buds themselves yield, it is difficult to find a comparison other than turkish delight in a teacup - depending on whether you add sugar of course! Rumour has it that sipping rose bud tea will also give your skin a helping hand which can never be a bad thing in my book!

  13. Very happy recipient of tea mail right here! I am now a big fan of black rose tea, and am eager to try other rose teas (getting obsessed with roses - how odd!) Re. Tilly above I was just adding rosehip recipes to my blog's 'to-try' list the other day, as we're coming up to the season for such experimentation. x

  14. And the Turkish delight thing draws me in. There is a Turkish restaurant I go to, Tas, purely for their Rose Sherbert juice, Turkish Delight in a glass!

  15. I rarely drink hot drinks, but I'm quite tempted to try this as I love rose-flavoured things too :). I recently discovered rose lemonade and it is quite possibly my favourite drink of all time, it's so delicious. Unfortunately it's really difficult to find it in shops near me so I don't get to drink it that often :(

  16. Your tea is a thing of beauty... I love turkish delight and anything rose flavoured. There's a tea shop near me that bakes rose flavoured scones with a rosebud on top and they are beautiful. I will have to think about getting me a glass tea pot and some rose flavoured tea. I voted for you by the way. Your blog is, as ever, beautiful. Em ♥

  18. Oh wow! I want to try this!!! I spent years searching for rose jam after having found one jar in TK Maxx that-one-time and then months searching for rose syrup for my hot chocolate. Yum!

  20. There's a Chinese shop downtown that sells dried rosebuds like that in a clear container, and I was considering getting them just to look at, haha! I guess I'll have to get some next time; if it tastes good & improves skin, it's worth a go!

  29. Wow Jem - that is stunning! I've tried the Rose blends in black and green tea, but never straight rosebud tea - I'm very intrigued! I'm currently on a huge rose kick at the moment, courtesy of the most divine rose bud bath bombs. It's so lovely sitting in the rose scented water with dried rose petals floating around me :) hahaha I'm a glutton for indulgences :)
Anyhoo, just wanted to send you a big 'Hello!' to you - I'm doing the postcard swap too. So happy to have found your blog - it's lovely!
    Cheers,
    Shann! xx
