Home

Beautiful Clutter has been oh so quiet this past week - I disappeared back home to Lincolnshire and spent time with my family for a few days. The rainy train journey home on Friday was a taster of the weather in store but being a rain-loving sort of girl I didn't mind too much. I'm always grateful my parents are fellow magpies; so much time was spent either in antique/vintage/charity shops or having good, long chats over a cuppa - that or being mauled by one of three four-legged furries about the place. The split second 'Where am I?' feeling of waking up in a different bed was pretty swift to evaporate once I'd felt the two feline alarm clocks purring away on top of me.

Being in the kitchen at home is the best feeling, I could do an entire post on that alone - I won't, but I could. The picture of the copper kettle on the slate windowsill with a view of the woods around the house sums up fairly well; so much tea is made in that kitchen! Home is such an interesting concept to me because I feel as though I have two; wherever I live with T and the place I'm from where my roots go deep - where my family are. When I think about that I feel very lucky, where do you call 'home'?

  1. Does that beautiful old door belong to your family home Jem? It looks like the most perfect front door for a girl like you.
The saying "home is where the heart is" sums up home for me and is true for most of us I suppose...
I love that pic of your sleepy cat and you know I am not a cat lover x

  2. Wow that shop is a treasure trove!
I love going home to my parents'. Massively cheesy - but there is no place like home!

  3. really gorgeous images as usual jem. It is so nice to just be at home sometimes and go to all the familiar places you used to love. I get quite jealous of people who have family down the road when mine are 4-5 hours away! x

  4. I'm trying to disassociate my hometown and my home. My home is America with my boy and in the UK is where my parents live. I think its because of all the other issues i've had with people about me moving that it's making me think a little negativity about my hometown and the people there. Which is probably a shame in hindsight.

  6. You lucky lucky girl to grow up right in the woods like that - beautiful view. South Wales is still home to me, despite not living there for the past 17 years! I'm on the look out for a new place to fall in love with though.

    Have a lovely weekend xx

  9. Do they still have that vintage clothes shop on Steep Hill - 20th Century Frocks? I’ve got a photo of my my daughter in front of it about 20 years ago.

  10. I still call my parents house 'home' though they have recently moved to a new area, nowhere near where I grew up at all, but still, whenever I go to visit I say 'I'm going home to see my parents' - and I moved out ten years ago now! Glad you had a lovely break away, Jenny x

  11. I find my home in people, not in places. I have moved around so much in my life that the longest I have ever lived in one place was the four years I spent in my flat at uni. But I do love a cosy home and I can't wait to have one of my own one day. I love your photos though! The first one is amazing and the last one is just lovely!

  12. Gorgeous photos, nothing beats visiting home. I always relate to having two homes, that of my family and the place I grew up and that where I live with Simon. I’m glad you had fun and managed to get plenty of exploring in by the looks of it xxx

  14. Jem sounds like a lovely weekend! Rain and all- I particularly like the rain if we can be at home with the woodburner alight, dog in her bed next to it and in my fav chair, reading, blogging ........ oh a joined by our cats too.

Although we have only lived in North Wales for 4 years I feel really at home here- we have lovely neighbours. I do miss family but they are so distributed around we couldn't live near to them but lovely variety of places to visit!!

Its great to pop in and see what you have been up to- such lovely photos.
