Dreamy Pretties

This week has been busy and productive as I've been making and sourcing props for a short film, it has been so exciting to help bring a world to life through little touches.  I dressed part of the set so plenty of  time has been spent scouring junk shops, eBaying, making prototype old letters and playing with sealing wax (so much fun!) but more on that in a later post. Somehow I found the time to do a little selfish bargain hunting and have unearthed some dreamy finds . . . .

Two pretty floral trios simply called 'Festoon' which to my mind fits the dainty garlands of flowers perfectly - the pattern was what caught my eye but the detailing inside the teacups really sold them to me. They are very old and the back stamp isn't one I recognise so a little investigative googling over a cuppa will be on the cards - you can guess which teacups I'll be reaching for!

Now for the kitsch corner, call me cheesy but I loved this little deer plaque on sight - I tend to prefer things on the light and airy side but the dark wood and brass tickled my fancy here.

Maud the floral owl gained a few fans when I popped a snap of her up on Instagram earlier in the week - she'll be keeping me company in the still-to-be-organised chaos of my office once things are a little straighter.

My final dreamy find was this Zodiac Press edition of Persuasion - I've actually never come across any Zodiac Press books before but I'll be keeping an eye for more if the covers are all as pretty as these!

Blogging has been a tad sporadic of late, plenty to waffle about but no inclination - sometimes it is nice just to enjoy my favourite blogs, books and magazines while keeping my own ideas safely scrawled somewhere for future use. I'm sure I will be back to a routine soon enough though as I've been feeling that itch to tap at the keys and get a'snapping with the camera.

  3. Hey, Jem, how's the Etsy shop going? Your finds are gorgeous and beautifully shot - love that soft effect. Are you into period tv shows/movies? Because I see that Great Expectations has been remade. It is showing on our ABC channel on television tonight (hope I'm home in time from work!), looks completely decadent - worth watching for all the stunning costumes, house interiors and all that china!

  29. I love pretty teacups too but i just find them so impractical! I managed to buy so much this week, and all for so little. I would like to blame it on car boot season starting up again, but half of what i found were in the charity shops! Now ive just added all the photos to my blog i cant believe how much i came home with!
