Off Topic Goodies

Saturday was a good day. It brought issue 4 of Mollie Makes to my door and the fella - in a fit of romance/chivalry - came home from a fitting in Derby for his usher's suit bearing gifts.....

I give you the Urban Decay 'Naked Palette'!  There are many reasons I'm excited about this little beauty - chief among them being the lovely selection of wearable shades and the dinky little bottle of Primer Potion which works like superglue to help keep your eyeshadow firmly in place.

I'm really not well versed when it comes to makeup - on a daily basis I wear a coat of mascara - but add a touch of liner and/or shadow on the days I feel I'd like a little more.  I've never worn foundation  and  can count on one hand the number of times I've blow-dried my hair in the past year.  Being 25 and unable to wield makeup and a hairdryer to great effect seems like a bit of an achilles heel in the 'feel good' section so I've recently promised myself to make more of an effort in finding out how to apply makeup, how to style my hair and to find out what suits me!

A virtual Costa Frappé-thingy to you all for indulging a random post!

  1. Ooh Mollie Makes - must buy this one I completely failed on the last issue. I've been waiting to see if Tesco include it with the magazines you can buy on subscription with their clubcard tokens, but no joy yet!

Your blokey did well - don't tell me he chose that palette himself? You must have dropped some hints, surely? That looks seriously lustworthy and useable as you say, great colours x

  3. Good in the gift-choices, your fella. Thought it was a giant bar of choc when I first saw the pic; which would have been very good, but top-notch make-up, in all those shades too.... bonus points!

My make-up routine (cough) is a coat of moisturiser, brown kohl and a bit of brown shadow - too lazy for mascara most days. And I've taught my hair how to behave - it seems to dry straight/flicky depending on whether I stick a bandana on til its dry or finger-dry it. Very low maintenance...;)

  4. I'm with you on the make-up/hair maintenance thing, it's just not something I ever got in to. I love the blog http://beautysbadhabitblog.blogspot.com/ for eye make-up inspiration, check it out.
Seriously cool gift for a man to choose, give him a pat on the back from us all! I do love Urban Decay eyeshadow; one of the very few things I treated myself to during the period when we were a 2 income family with just one child to support!

  6. I'm at one with make up too, eyeliner a bit of foundation does me good. I really wish I could style myself with it better but I end up looking like I have black eyes!

  8. I'm with you on the make-up thingy. I slap on lippy, a bit of blusher and wear my hair in a pony-tail most days. Don't even bother with the mascara! That shadow palette looks fab! I wish I could do smokey eyes, but each time I've tried I look like I've got bruises! Em x

  10. Thanks for the frappe Jem ;0)
What a clever bloke you have! I too am of the minimalist approach in the make up dept (eyeliner only) but I do admire eye shadow on those it suits when its done dramatically x

  14. Hello,
I visited your blog today, and I thought it was so unique and charming. While I was reading, I noticed that we have alot of the same interests. I love all things old, too, and having a cup of tea is one of the simple pleasures in life. I have always loved music, all different kinds, even when I was a young girl. Me and my daughters just started a new blog, and we would love it if you could visit us and follow. I would really enjoy coming back to visit with you and seeing your beautiful treasures. Hope to hear from you, and have a sweet day.
