Royal Albert: Old Country Roses

Royal Albert patterns are, in my view,  some of the most beautiful.  I fell completely in love with Old Country Roses at a young age as my paternal Grandma had a complete set - everything from napkin rings and cake stands to teacups and tureens - all displayed beautifully on her extra wide dresser.  One of the things I enjoy most about the pattern is the gilding, so bold and bright, I read somewhere that it has been one of the best selling china patterns ever designed and I can quite believe it.

'You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.' C.S. Lewis

Take care,

  9. Old Country Roses is the most popular pattern of china ever produced. It is a gorgeous design. So lucky yours is before they moved production out of the UK. The Indonesian pieces are no where as nice! What a treasure as well as a special remembrance of a loved one! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Oh such memories you have brought back to me. The lady who introduced me to this whole TEA thing (about 25 year ago now) had a set of Old Country Roses. I think of her every time I see this pattern. I think the teapot is just stunning. WHat a joy.

  12. This is one of my favorite patterns, too. But I don't have a teacup in the pattern. I have a teapot. I'm holding out until I can find one made in England not the offshore ones being sold in department stores here in the USA.

  13. I have a weird penchant for beautiful china and crockery, considering I'm not a tea fan x
