Light and Airy

I love rooms to feel bright and open, I think it comes from being a touch claustrophobic since getting stuck in a lift at a fairly young age!  Cosy rooms are inviting too but I'm not the biggest fan of dark or  oppressive colour schemes so tend to keep walls white or cream and have plenty of my favourite things in light tones dotted around every space.

Welcome to my first White Wednesday with Faded Charm

A little birdie told me this was the place to show off a love of all things airy . . . .

I picked up these two frames in Cancer Research for 50p apiece and gave them a lift with a primer and some matt emulsion, I don't think I'd ever buy a new picture frame again - it's infinitely cheaper to buy old and repaint!

This little 'Kitchen' sign was an eBay purchase and is brand new, but I like the typography and the bygone feel about it.

My jewellery mannequin was a gift from my little sister for my 21st birthday, I know it defeats the purpose but she looks so elegant as she is that I can never bring myself to drape her in necklaces!

Take care,
Jem xXx

  1. Hi Jem
I too light and airy rooms. In the 90s most of the walls in my house (different house) were decorated in dark dramatic colours. How different my style of decor is now. I still like the dark colours that I chose, in the winter the lounge was very cosy with a reddish colour on the walls but somehow I need light colours now.

  2. Lovely items, I with you on light walls, but i then fill the room with all my clutter and defeats the purpose! lol I'm with you on painting frams - way cheaper and i think they look better too. Scarlett x

  5. Hi Jem, thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, the ring is sitting on a Japanese platter. I love the way the vines twist across it! Your blog header is beautiful, it really caught my eye, and I love tea cups and tea pots too. I have a thing for making pots of tea and then sitting and enjoying the quiet. I'm with you on the white/pale walls. I'm the same. When I moved into my house I had to paint over the pink/purple/mustard/green/orange walls (I kid you not!) and paint them all white and cream so that I could get a good night's sleep! Hope you're having a great day. Em x
