Old Sheet Music

There cannot be many things more beautiful than old sheet music, the intricate typefaces and jaunty titles make a well presented front cover and whether you can read music or not there is no mistaking the aesthetic pleasure of notes on a page.  I found these being sold as one lot, there are just under 20 little booklets in total, all individual pieces or songs.

Through becoming a tiny part of the world of blogging I've come across so many inspiring images and have seen sheet music used to great effect in craft projects and altered art, it always looks fantastic but I'm yet to pluck up the courage to use any of mine the same way, I'm too attached!  However it did occur to me that I could scan in all my originals and just print out the pieces I'd like to use here and there on good quality paper - that way I can keep them intact. I'd also like to learn to play a few now I have something to play on again.  We'll see how that goes!

The textures and frayed edges serve only to make the sheets more appealing to me, the (terrible) poet in me would say they were left by time's caresses.

Take care,

Jem xXx
